Bangtao x Michael Sandbach: The HYROX Training Camp in Phuket

Michael Sandbach Hyrox camp at bangtao muay thai and MMA

Bangtao Muay Thai & MMA will host a 3-day HYROX training camp with Michael Sandbach, one of the UK’s leading HYROX athletes and a proven performer at the highest level of the sport.

Michael brings a relentless competitive mindset and a coaching approach shaped by real results. He is the UK’s top HYROX athlete, the current world record holder in Pro Doubles, and a silver medallist at the 2024 HYROX World Championships in Nice. Alongside competition success, he is widely respected for his elite hybrid training programs, known for their attention to detail and ability to translate training into performance.

This camp is designed for a wide range of athletes, from those looking for a clear entry point into HYROX, to experienced competitors aiming to refine execution, pacing, and small performance details that matter under fatigue.

This camp builds on the strong demand generated by last year’s 7-day HYROX training camp with Michael Sandbach and Ida Mathilde Steensgaard, which brought athletes of mixed experience levels together in Phuket for focused, practical sessions and world-class coaching. The success of that week-long event reinforced the value of structured, detail-oriented HYROX preparation, something this new camp continues in a more compact format.

A Camp That Works for Different Experience Levels

One of the strengths of this camp is its accessibility. Beginners will gain a solid understanding of HYROX training concepts, movement standards, and pacing without feeling overwhelmed. More experienced athletes will benefit from deeper technical feedback, efficiency improvements, and race-specific insights drawn directly from Michael’s own competitive experience.

Across five training sessions and a dedicated strategy and Q&A block, the focus stays on clarity and practical takeaways rather than generic conditioning.

What Athletes Will Take Away

Under Michael’s guidance, sessions focus on understanding how HYROX actually works and how to prepare for it effectively. Athletes can expect to work on:

  • Pacing and effort management
  • Movement efficiency and transitions
  • Managing fatigue across repeated efforts
  • Confidence and decision-making under sustained intensity

Training takes place at Bangtao Muay Thai & MMA, offering a supportive environment where athletes of different levels train side by side.

A Useful Build-Up for HYROX Bangkok

For athletes planning to compete at HYROX Bangkok from March 20–22, 2025, this camp can also serve as a focused training block in the lead-up to race week. The timing allows athletes to sharpen technique, test pacing, and leave with clear takeaways to apply in their final phase of preparation.

At the same time, the camp stands on its own. Whether you’re new to HYROX or looking to tighten small details that make a real difference, this weekend offers structured, practical training guided by one of the sport’s most accomplished athletes.
