Behind the Scenes and in the Ring: Kevin Hansen’s Muay Thai Win at Bangtao Brawl 2

Kevin Hansen is no stranger to Bangtao Muay Thai & MMA. Starting out as a customer, he’s now the gym’s Business Development Executive, a position he’s held since the summer of 2023. But his journey to this role began in 2022 when, after hearing about the gym through friends and a mention by Khalil Rountree on The Joe Rogan Experience, Kevin attended his first session at Bangtao while on holiday from Norway.

Originally from Phangnga, Thailand, Kevin was studying Business in Norway, but his visits to Bangtao became a routine during his breaks from university. On January 27, 2023, Kevin had his first Muay Thai fight, training out of Bangtao and competing at Rawai Stadium, where he earned a win. That fight, cornered by coaches Kru Beer, Kru M, and Kru Kwang, marked a turning point.

After completing his studies in mid-2023, Kevin returned to Thailand, unsure of his next steps. Mid-training session, he decided to approach the gym about job opportunities. “I was hoping to land a front office job so I could stay in Phuket, train, and figure out my next move,” Kevin explained. An interview with Managing Director Will Elliot led to a more significant role—Kevin was offered the position of Business Development Executive. And just like that, “Biz Dev Kev” was born.

Since then, Kevin has taken on several major projects, working closely with Managing Director Will Elliot and Marketing Director Lewis Wilson. He’s been involved in launching the free trial program, setting up the Bangtao Fightstore, organizing VIP fighter events featuring names like GSP, Jon Jones, and Alexander Volkanovski, and helping to organize the first-ever Bangtao Brawl.

Kevin’s latest challenge? Competing in his second Muay Thai fight at Bangtao Brawl 2—while also playing a major role in organizing the event itself. On fight night, Kevin balanced both roles, handling logistics before stepping into the ring. His opponent brought constant pressure, but Kevin stayed composed, finding openings for his jab and landing solid overhands. In a competitive matchup that had the crowd fully engaged, Kevin came away with the win via decision.

“The event went extremely well overall. I’m glad I decided to fight,” Kevin said after his victory. “I felt comfortable in the ring and had a great time. My opponent made it a fun, exciting fight, and the support from the crowd was incredible. The team took care of the details I usually focus on, which took a lot of pressure off me.”
