From Beginners to World Champions: Muay Thai at Bangtao in Phuket, Thailand

Muay Thai at Bangtao Muay Thai & MMA Phuket Thailand

While Bangtao put its name on the map through its MMA and fitness programs, we all have immense passion and respect for Thailand’s national sport, Muay Thai. Since our inception in 2022, our goal has always been to have a world-class Muay Thai program as part of our lineup. And as with anything we do at Bangtao, it’s go big or go home.

Our Muay Thai program, carefully built and curated from scratch, has made significant strides in just a short time. With the legendary Ajarn Wat at the helm and fighters like Savvas Michael and Narak Sor.Jor.Tongprajeen calling Bangtao home, the future potential of Muay Thai at Bangtao is something to watch out for.

Our trainers’ combined experiences amount to thousands of fights, hundreds of hours in the corner, and countless hours as instructors. Their expertise is unmatched, having been through every situation imaginable. Whether it’s managing weight cuts, adapting to last-minute opponent changes, or even fighting when under the weather – they’ve been there, done that.

They’ve also built fighters from the ground up, from first fights to stadium-level competition. Our trainers can start with a blank canvas or refine your technique, propelling your career to new heights.

While other gyms in Thailand may boast the same level of hands-on experience and practical know-how, our program stands out from other gyms because of our unique combination of world-class facilities and open-mindedness. We prioritize recovery and nutrition and have resources like ice baths, saunas, and personalized meal plans to make it easy.

In particular, our head trainer, Ajarn Wat, has done away with old-school weight-cutting methods and has adopted a more modern approach to training and fight prep. His expertise and innovative thinking are at the core of our program as we strive to forge our own path in Muay Thai. Furthermore, we are proud to have multiple Muay Thai World Champions, including Lerdsila Chumpairtour and Kaimookkao, as part of our coaching team at Bangtao. Training under these legends offers a rare opportunity to learn the refined techniques and invaluable knowledge that only true champions can impart.

The program consists of morning and afternoon training. Regardless of your level, the trainers will work with you to achieve your goals and guide you in the right direction. Whether you are a professional fighter looking to do your fight camp with us or looking to step into the ring for the first time, we’ve got you covered. Our fitness and nutrition programs will help elevate your training and fight camp to the next level.

We’re always traveling to Bangkok for fights, whether it’s RWS or Channel 7. We have connections at all the major stadiums. We also have fighters from around the world who travel to Phuket to do their fight camps with us. Additionally, we’re well connected on the local scene, which better caters to those still learning to get comfortable in the ring. So in addition to running your fight camp, we’re here to get you fights too.

We’re not just a fighter’s gym. The core of what we’re doing has always been an everyone is welcome approach to training and fighting. We want everyone to feel comfortable, whether they are training for exercise, their first fight, or the biggest fight of their careers. Our trainers understand and are open to this. They’re able to work with you to help achieve your fitness goals, or take your career to Rajadamnern title contention.

Our Muay Thai group classes run Monday to Friday in two sessions: from 8:00 am to 9:30 am and from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm. We also hold a weekend class on Saturdays from 9:00 am to 10:30 am. These classes are divided into two areas: one for beginners and intermediate participants, and the other strictly for fighters.

Most recently, we launched a Muay Thai Fundamentals class for those who have never partaken in Thailand’s art of eight limbs. This class runs from 8:00 am to 9:30 am on Tuesdays and Thursdays and focuses specifically on the basics, such as stance, key techniques, and breathing.

All of our trainers offer private training for those with limited time and busy schedules. This is a great way to get tailored training and focus specifically on areas that you feel need work or get one-on-one attention and focus from your trainer. Please keep in mind that privates need to be booked in advance and are subject to availability.
